Around the globe, commuters struggle almost every time to find a parking space.
We have good news. A Dutch startup called Parkeagle is working on an IoT (Internet of Things) device to solve the parking woes. Their IoT device that uses smart sensors, will guide drivers to available parking spots. They aim to build a network of sensors that would notify you of a free parking space directly on your mobile.
The team was looking for an enclosure where they could place the electronic components. They wanted the case to be portable, durable under heavy loads, water resistant along with easy installation and quick creation time.
What else other than 3D Printing and 3D Designing could help them achieve what they were looking for? The initial prototype that they developed had three parts and after making certain 3D design optimization the number of parts was reduced to two. They understood that a wide and low enclosure would be able to distribute weight more efficiently. They first used SLS (Selective Laser Sintering ) technology for their 3D Prints and later switched to FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling ) and used PLA (Polylactic Acid) as the material for 3D Printing.
3D Printing is making it easy for IoT startups to operate and scale. It helped Parkeagle to create physical models of their device encasement which they could present to their investors.
